 Wij
– mijn vrouw en ik - deden dat in 2006 en danken het succes van onze reis vooral
aan onze gids BOBBY.
Via een familielid kwamen we met Bobby in contact
en dankzij hem hebben wij heel veel van het eiland Sulawesi gezien en geleerd.
Bobby is namelijk een deskundige op het gebied van flora en fauna. Hij is actief
in de milieubeweging waardoor hij vaak afwijkt van de toeristische route en zijn
gasten via binnenweggetjes andere aspecten van Sulawesi laat zien. Daarnaast
heeft Bobby een goed inlevingsvermogen en voelt meestal haarfijn aan wat zijn
gasten wel of niet leuk vinden.
Bobby is heel plezierig in de omgang, hij is
communicatief vaardig, spreekt goed Engels en talrijke woordjes Nederlands, maar
vooral: hij verstáát onze taal en dat is uitermate plezierig!

My name is
Jukber Bobby Lambaihang. I was born in 1970 in a small village near
BITUNG,
Tandurusa as we call it; the meaning of Tandurusa is ‘deer’. I grew up
there and I finished my studies at the Economice High School. In 1991 I
started to be guide, but just for a short time. At the same time I did research
for the New York zoological society or as many more famous people call it
nowadays WCS: Wild Life Conservation Society. I worked there for two years until
1993. I also did scientific work at the Oregon University for one year. In 1994
I worked for one year with WWF especially for Community Development in Tangkoko
and Bitung. In the meantime I have 12 years of experience in being a guide. You
may wonder why I like to be a guide, well because for me guiding is my life….
And why I do like to guide Dutch people?
At first, when I started the guiding work, I guided Dutch people and I
realized that Holland really help Indonesions with many things. I won’t
forget that. Many friends of mine from Holland are helping my Organisation with
fundraising.
So, I hope to welcome you in Indonesia and especially in Sulawesi.
